Re Stegers: I've had Arctic Weathermates for several years. For snowshoeing, really great. For bare booting on dry snow, good. On ice, won't accept crampons. For XC skiing, possible with Berwin Bindings, edge control rudimentary. My feet have always been warm, the sshoes are light, don't need additional camp shoes, liners will keep your feet warm overnight. I generally cary a pair of neoprene socks in case misadventure soaks the felt liners.
