Has anyone had experience with Nikwax Down Wash and/or Nikwax Down proof? Are they worth it? Does Down proof actually make the down more waterproof? Any other similar of better products?
This old thread might answer your question.

Thanks but that thread seems to reach the conclusion that it is either good or bad but reaches no firm conclusion so I still am not sure whether I want to wash by down bag using down proof. I washed a cheaper down bag with down proof a few years ago and I thought that the bag was not as warm afterward but I was not sure since it is hard to tell just using "gut" instinct. I will probably just wait until my down bag gets even dirtier than it is now.

I used it on a relatively new down bag. There is no doubt in my mind that the bag never recovered the loft it had before. I wouldn't use it again. (Personally, I wouldn't wash down at all if I could help it.)

That is my feeling. I think that I will just turn the bag inside out and sponge wash the inside.
