MLD 2008 Funky Proto Sale - 02/09/08 01:50 PM

I woke up this morning, fighting off a cold. So instead of going skiing, I opted to stay home. As a result, I found myself surfing the web and came across the Mountain Laurel Designs 2008 Funky Proto Sale. And in the 15 items for sale was this: "Item #5 Price $100 Superlight Bivy, first quality only about 2-3 “ shorter than a reg. Everything else perfect." Here is the link to theMLD Superlight Bivy

Well gosh, the standard size superlight bivy is sized for a person up to 6 feet tall. If this bivy is 3 inches shorter, that should be perfect for me! And the sale price was hard to beat. And I've been really wanting to try out a bivy for sometime. And what were the odds of me even being home to see the sale? (All but two of the items were sold by noon MST.) And MLD products have a fabulous reputation - great quality. (Is the rationale working for anyone but me??) Pretty much I had to conclude I was meant to buy it. Before I knew it, I was on the phone to Ron Bell giving him my purchasing info. I'm looking forward to trying it out this summer. Carol

Good for you carol, let us know how it works for you. A bivy is a creature unique to each owner

Way to go BWD! It must have been 'divine intervention'!

But, I bet they don't leave you home alone again (at least with computer access).

Hi Tango61,

I'm trying to figure out how to sneak the new MLD bivy into the gear box. And then when it is discovered, I say in my best convincing voice, "What, that old thing? We've had it for years!". I doubt it will fly though. Dear husband made his own bivy. And I have a really, really old one that weighs about 1 1/2 pounds with a gortex top that I've only ever used for winter ski trips. Carol

p.s. I went skiing today, feeling much better. So no unsupervised computer time.

My wife pulls that one sometimes, I just point to the tags hanging from under the arm. Brum

That's the spirit Carol, especially seeing as you're on the Northern Tier Box where folks can use it more
