Went to a hammock for the summer - 06/25/17 11:11 PM

First time I backpacked with a hammock I froze my but off with it 60 degrees. I did a two night paddle trip with some friends this weekend and brought the hammock. First night i sleep int he hammock with out any quilt and got a little chilly. 70 degrees. It weird that your backside gets more cold that your front. I put my sleeping pad in it the second night and just draped the quilt over the hammock. I couldnt believe how comfortable the hammock was with the pad. Almost more comfy than my bed. I probably wont use it in the winter because of the weight and I only use a 38 liter pack but I have to agree that it is more comfortable than sleeping on the ground

The hammock is a better choice indeed, good to hear the additional sleeping pad makes it more comfortable.
