We now have confirmation of what we all suspected, this year's Sierra snowpack is the lowest in
at least 500 years. Little wonder it seems like half the state is on fire.

In addition to the loss of human housing and the dislocation, the loss of so many trees and habitat makes me sick. So much media coverage of the Valley fire, but also going on are the Butte and Tenaya fire in Yosemite Valley and many more. At least we are finally getting some rain (and snow at Mammoth).
