Honeymooning in Yosemite

Honeymooning in Yosemite - 10/28/11 12:07 AM

Happy days around our house.

Our younger daughter got married last weekend, and we were delighted that she and her new husband decided to spend their honeymoon in Yosemite. It was his first visit to the park, and he was enchanted---of course. And when we offered to take him backpacking the next time they came to visit, he accepted with alacrity. Now that's gonna be a fun trip.

Nice kid. Nice to have him in the family!

We've told both of our kids that if they tank the marriage, we're keeping the spouses. smile

I still backpack with a few of my daughters ex-boyfriends. Those kids became a part of the family and it's too hard to not want to hang out with them. Luckily, my daughters still get along with them too, so that makes it all okay.

I wish they'd find a man to commit to though, especially one that can fix a car wink

It is long, I'm telling you. Let's see, right before my senior year of high school, I moved from San Antonio to Everett WA. During that year, my best friend from SA came and visited me for a week. A couple of years later, after I spent 2 years in Poland and he spent 2 years in Mexico, we decided that I should fly down and visit him. Problem was, no money. So, his mom bought me a round trip ticket. When I arrived I learned that his little sisters car needed a clutch replaced. I told them I would do it since they paid for my plane ticket. Interestingly, he had to work the whole week, and his sister had the whole week off. She spent the week helping me replace the clutch and driving me into town to by parts. I was pretty impressed that she liked to work on cars. It took me almost the whole week to figure out that my friends mom was setting me up. smile 6 months later we were married. She hasn't worked on a car since. But, I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life with anyone else.

That is a GREAT story!!! laugh

And your Mother-in-Law is a genius, I don't care how much that plane ticket cost her, it was worth it!

Let me think now... who do I know that I can pull that on?

I was her practice. Later she bought plane tickets for three other guys for three other daughters. By then her skills were honed and they didn't stand a chance.

Awesome.

A couple who met via the hiking group got married at the chapel in Yosemite, too. Can't think of a better place to do it!

If I ever did the marriage thing again, I'd probably find someone to perform the ceremony at the top of Yosemite or Nevada Falls.

It's great to add someone to your family you can share your interests in, especially a love of the outdoors. I'm sure you'll enjoy many years exploring together!

She could make millions selling a book about how she did it! I can totally see a movie deal for that story too:

"Four Tickets For Four Men"

Man, I should tell her that. She would love writing it.
