I just scored a pair of these $265 boots at an REI scratch and dent sale for $29 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

I really don't know where in my gear closet these will fit in. I have trail runners, mids and winter boots. I have a feeling that they may just end up sitting in my closet for a while. I have never owned a full-grain leather boot and not quite sure what their optimal use would be? However for the price, I couldn't pass them up.

Do they fit? If so, start breaking them in--it may take a while.

I certainly have experience with boots like them. IF they fit well, they are great. if they don't fit - they are a recepie for heavyweight misery smile

So really it's less about our experience with them than yours.
if they fit well and you take care of them (clean them off and
waterproof/wax them frequently) they will last a good long time.

I wear a similar boot (well, a bit higher end, a Hanwag) for probably about 2/3 of my trips - anywhere I'm likely to be in rougher country and/or off trail a bunch this tends to be what I wear - Then again, for all my trips last year, I ended up
off trail enough that I wore them for 6 hikes last year. So who knows, maybe I'm taking on enough stuff that I will end up
wearing them more often.

If I am on established trails I will often switch to a trailrunner.
