World record "huck" - Stunt, or extreme sport? - 01/01/11 02:30 AM

A friend sent me this link to a guy going over a 186 ft waterfall in a kayak... OMG.

The whole thing is video taped from several vantage points. It's really cool to watch, but is it a "stunt" or is this just really extreme sport?

Gotta wonder "why"? Death wish? Why not Niagra Falls and get some publicity?

Reminds me of Warren Miller's "Off the Grid" 250 foot cliff jump made by Jamie Pierre. Wife, kids, and he plummets off a cliff for whatever reason. Maybe he has lots of life insurance?

I watched that on TV awhile back and was totally impressed with the young man's stupidity.

But, he lived to attend his 15 minutes of fame, this time...

For some 15 years I worked with C-4 and 5 quadriplegics. Way too many were like that young man before their accident, and a few afterwards as well. I got to listen to their stories. Almost all of them thought they were "Indestructible" .

Now, we add to that the lure of cheap celebrity on "YouTube" type mediums and things get even stupider.

Bill, that reminds me of my grandfather. He was a frogman in WWII. He was the "Fuse man". My dad said he never touched anything explosive after that, including fireworks (well, he still shot guns).
