Trecking pole grips - 07/15/10 10:33 PM

Hi all! My name is Brendon and I am new to the forum.
I am planning to do the Mount Assiniboin loop in Banff Canada.
My question is, I have a set of trecking poles that are older and have seen many a mile. The rubber grips are all worn out and they leave your hands all sticky and black. Is there a tape or something I could wrap on them to make them last for one more trip? I tried hockey tape but it was just as bad as the original. Any help would be appreciated.

What brand are they? You might contact the manufacturer and see if replacement grips are available.

Would golf club grips fit? (Take the poles to a golf store, like Golf Galaxy, that does grip replacements, and they can tell you.)

However, in the end, your best bet might be to shop the outlets for new poles. Sierra Trading Post, REI Outlet, Campmor, Moosejaw, and Backcountry Gear often have really good sales on poles. Hit the right sale, and it might be cheaper to get new poles than to repair the poles you have. (Sad commentary on our disposable culture, isn't it?)
