Ripoff Visas for Turkey - 06/09/09 02:40 PM

I'm backpacking to Turkey in a couple of months

I'm travelling by train from Greece.

What are peoples experiences with buying visa's on the borders? Did you get ripped off? Or was it just a pain free process?

I'm British, so consolute prices are £66 compared to £10 on the border

Thanks

You might get a better answer on a travel forum such as Lonely Planet. This forum is for backpacking by the American definition, which is wilderness trekking.

My experience with Turkey is 8 years old so not of much help. Back then, you got your visa upon arrival at the border or at the airport. It was US$40, and they pasted a pretty little stamp on your passport. No questions were asked; I suspect they just wanted our money. I really enjoyed Turkey; have a great trip!
