Short AT day hike in winter - 01/04/17 04:19 PM
Hi all - looking to try some winter hiking, up until now I've always been a 3 season hiker. I am looking for a moderate stretch of AT in eastern PA, NJ or southern NY and would prefer to avoid anything too technical (requiring crampons, etc.).
Any suggestions?

Anywhere you mentioned can be done right now with care, or better, carry some micro-spikes to slip on. Just did 20 miles plus in Harriman without using them, but, could have in spots. Trekking poles help, too.

Microspikes are not just for hiking; they are great in icy conditions at home, too. Rright now I need them if I even want to venture out my door!

You just need a pair of hiking pole I think!
