Arkansas bugs in mid April

I'm planning to hike the Eagle Rock Loop over Easter weekend. How bad are the bugs there at that time typically? I'm trying to decide between a tarp and a tent.

I have done that loop a few times. You might have some issues with creek crossings in April. As for the bug, treat all your clothes, socks, pack with permetherine. The Ouichita Mountains are full of ticks. Biting flies shouldnt be an issue in april. If they are expecting a lot of rain stay far away from there. It flash floods really bad. You can read about the Albert Pike Recreation area flood that happened in 2011 or 12. If you are using a tyvek ground cloth with your tarp treat the edges, both sides, with permetherine.
