Sometimes I walk up to a plant and exhale carbon dioxide all over it. Did I save its life? Maybe. Am I a hero? That's for history to decide.

I think you have it backwards... the plant took your Carbon Dioxide and exhaled Oxygen all over you thereby saving your life!

There is good evidence that plants are farming us by feeding us oxygen so we can grow and die to provide nutrients for future plants.
