Hike Ideas - Help!

I live in Central New York and want to put together a 2-5 day overnight hike in the adirondacks. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am looking for something mid-level difficulty? I had thought about the AT in western MA but wanted something a little closer to home....suggestions would be huge.

When I lived in upstate NY, I used to do the five ponds region for a quick overnighter or two nights with a late start. That was back when I carried a lot more weight and thought 5 miles was a decent day so I'm not sure how much milage is really available there.
