Westcomb Cruiser Hoody

Does anyone know where I can buy a Westcomb Cruiser Hoody in the Denver area?

Bent Gate in Golden and Neptune Mtneering in Boulder both are Westcomb dealers. However, neither carry the Cruiser Anorak. The only way you can get one is by special order which both will do. Hopefully this jacket will be in their stores next summer.

Both will carry the Specter LT which is about 3 oz. heavier than the Anorak. The Anorak has reinforcements on the shoulder and is a sweet jacket. Gabriel one of the owners of Westcomb feels this is his favorite lightweight jacket they make. Great choice!

3/23/08 at 11:00 at Bent Gate I asked for a hardshell, hooded pullover and the nice young lady told me that that the spring line is not yet in stock. I asked if they were a Westcomb dealer and she said no.

Guess I need to get my shot records up to date for an expedition to the Peoples Republic.

Although she might not know it, they are, or will be. She is correct in that the current product has not shipped yet and she was probably looking at inventory on the floor. However, if you were to talk to one of the buyers, they would tell you that they will soon be a Westcomb dealer when the jackets arrive.

Most of the dealers in Colorado are brand new to Westcomb so many don't have inventory yet. The only two I know of with current inventory is Boulder Mountaineering in, you guessed it, Boulder (on Broadway) and Summit Canyon in Grand Junction. Boulder Mountaineering still has a pretty good inventory, but I'm not sure if they are carrying the Cruiser Anorak. You can call them at (303) 444-2470 or go online at www.bouldermountaineering.com. Never heard of Westcomb. Something I need to check out?

They're somewhat new, kinda pricey like Cloudveil and Patagonia.

I want to take a look at Westcomb. The pricing needs to be competitive with Intergral Designs. I want to check quality by an in person look at at least one product.

I am open to new brands.

Thank you Paddy. I really want to touch one and check quality and fit before I order. Price may be a problem because the ID eVent pullover is $190 and the Thru-hiker jacket is $240. I would expect a hooded pullover to come in somewhere between those prices.

My strong preference for backcountry use is a pullover. I prefer a jacket for around town use.

I like the idea that Patagucci,etc. has some high end competition, but the price needs to be competitive.

High. I have only spent that kind of money on a WM sleeping bag or two.

I can't believe my good fortune. This past Friday I stopped into the only Westcomb dealer listed in Michigan to look at their products. I couldn't find anything, so I asked and the guy said they had one jacket left, a men's small Specter LT jacket on clearance. I said I wore medium so I probably couldn't wear it, but he insisted the sizes ran big so I tried it on. Fit perfectly and it was marked down to $75 so they now have zero Westcomb jackets in their store!

You're going to love that jacket! I'm sure you've looked at it in detail and hopefully you can comment on it's quality. Although I can talk about it all day long, I'm kind of biased, but the truth is it's one of the highest quality lightweight jackets ever made (20 to 25 stitches per inch (industry standard is 8 to 10), narrowest eVent seam-tape available (14mm), exceptional fit, one of the best hoods on the market, ergonomic cuffs, non-bunching waist cinch, etc.)! I'm not sure if you've owned an eVent jacket before, but you will feel a huge difference. The only bad thing is it will be extremely hard to wear Gore-Tex again. Oh well...

My only complaint thus far is the lack of feature for stowing the hood. But that is consistent with its minimalist design. Weight is 308 grams (10.8 oz). Two inside chest pockets, one outside. I wasn't sure about the color at first (a rusty brownish red), but it's growing on me.

I've only worn it around the house so far, I'll post more when I get to try it in the field.
