Best Tent Stake For Sand??? - 02/19/08 03:12 AM

Okay my other post did not get a lot of response so here is a different spin. What do you tihnk is the best tent stake for use in the sand?

I have used the sno-stakes and they are okay but am looking for even more support to use with my Warmlite tent which requires a lot of tension.

I am looking at the Hilleberg snow and sand stakes which are similar but a bit longer.

Also thinking of using MSR Coyote snow pickets which are 24 inches long so they would likely be pretty solid.

I am going to use them for kayak camping so weight and bulk is not so much of an issue.

Dig a trench and bury a log (or large rock) which you have tied a cord on to. Or fashion a spear to pound into the sand.

Fill plastic bags with sand, wrap a cord around them, and bury them - or a stick or sometihing. or tie out to rocks and bushes.
