Frogg Toggs experience?

Frogg Toggs experience? - 01/15/08 12:28 PM

Has anyone used the Frogg Toggs rain suit out and about? I bought the standard set that I use for bass fishing but have not been rained on in em' nor tried em' on my extended hikes. For weight purposes I want to ditch my old rain suit and use my Toggs. They claim to be 100% water and wind proof. Anyone got any experience or input using the Toggs compared to other suits?

What you need is for me to come fishin' with you. It will rain for sure then. Guaranteed. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The FABRIC is very waterproof, but the construction is not. For instance, the hood doesn't adequately cover your head, and the front zipper is sewn on without any seam sealing on the stitching. The elastic in the cuffs absorbs water like crazy. If none of this bothers you then they are great.

I agree with retrotramp. FTs are good, but have some obnoxious habits. i prefer DriDucks. They are cheaper, more durable, and look better longer. They tend to perform in areas where FTs fail.

I had the complete opposite experience. My dri-ducks took a beating and the pants only lasted 1-2 trips before they tore to pieces. The jacket is still useable for a few more I hope, but is covered with holes that have been repaired with seam sealer or duck tape.

My partner had frogg toggs on the whole time I had on my dri ducks. His are still in great shape. So I bought some frogg toggs to wear as soon as my dri ducks finish their fast life.

Do it--ditch the rain suit for the Toggs. Mine have done well and duct tape repairs them just fine. Mary

Love my FTs. They are not for bushwhacking, they are more on the delicate side of durability. The hood as stated before does not fit well. For the weight, price, and weather proofness they can't be beat. Check ebay, found cheap suits there. I bought and extra set to have around.
