Phat and his Virga packs

Phat and his Virga packs - 06/12/15 08:36 PM

Anybody heard from Phat lately?

As I recall, he and I were the only ones on the forum who had any luck with the Granite Gear Virga packs - him moreso than me. I just picked up the Virga 2, which solved my only real issue, the lack of a padded (or at least wide) hipbelt. After the last piece of the puzzle clicked into place (an OR Helium II rain jacket and pants), I've gotten down to a 14 pound weekend weight, total, without sacrificing any meaningful comfort or convenience, which leaves plenty of capacity for extra food or water as needed, and the Virga is a strong contender for "go-to pack."

I'd love to know what Phat thinks of the new version - and just generally find out what he's been up to.

Phat has been missing for a while. I, too, would like to know how he's doing and what he's been up to lately.

I believe he last popped in here about a year ago to make that fantastic sticky post in the Backcountry Beginners forum.
