Tent, Walrus single or two person tent - 04/27/11 02:50 PM

My Walrus Tent or some 15 or more years has a rain fly that is now VERY STICKY; i.e., the waterproofing has come out of the fabric and is sticky. Anyone know of a means of eliminating this sticky material? Dnstrmbob

This happens with polyurethane-coated nylon after some years, and effectively means the tent is dead. It's possible to re-coat it, but only if the old coating will peel off.

This happened to that bags that came with my thermarest mattresses. They are pretty worthless now.

Give Walrus a call--a couple of years ago they sent me a new fly for an old tent. No harm trying smile mp

Walrus as a brand disappeared around 2001 when MSR merged Moss, Armadillo and Walrus under its own brand.
