I use a golite vo24. Yes, it's a bit large for trail running, but it is one of the few that are available in sizes. It snugs down well and weighs 24oz. Some people complained about the bottle pockets being too small, but I use a bladder. Also the hip belt pockets are much larger than my gregory z30.

No internal frame so I can roll it up and stuff it in a larger bp for dayhikes.

When I was looking for this sort of pack, Golite was the only one I could find in a Tall (Long) size. I got the original "24" Pack, which is maybe 18 liters? Good size for lightweight dayhiking, though I read somewhere that Ryan Jordan over at Backpackinglight used a 24 Pack for a 4-day backpacking trip through Yellowstone.

I liked the Salomon Raid series packs, the Ultimate Directions packs, and the little Gregory A/R packs, but none were long enough for my torso, and all of their shoulder straps were *way* too short. Looking around the 'net just now, it seems that adventure racers must all be skinny and about 5-9.
