I came across this reading last night, seems the guy has his thoughts spot on....kinda' like Bill/Gardenville

www.neidermeier-skp.com click on 'manufacturing' for the lenghty in depth discussion of how one guy came to sewing his own gear. it's got a miliatary bent to it, so don't be offended if you go to look.

Indeed. I can see taking his basic ideas and using them for specialist camera gear and the like, rather than his more military equipment. He does seem to go for durability rather than simplicity or ease of use, and weight seems not to bother him at all, but I'm sure we can find alternative fabrics and findings to make some of this work for walkers.

Why would someone choose a nylon fabric over a polyester fabric for small camping needs, like lightweight mittens, stuff sacks, gaiters, etc...?

Well, everyone has their own fabric preferences, and what is available to them also is consdiered in making a choice.

Easy enough to use the techniques shown on lighter fabric
