Lightweight pot,,,, DIY?

I don't want to pay $35 for a Titanium cup. I want a light weight (2 ounces?) aluminum cup that holds 10 to 12 ounces (larger is ok). What do you UL guys use. I have a Ti-pot that weighs 4.5 ounces and I want to loose a couple of ounces. I'm considering a foster Beer Can DIY pot.

The Foster can is tall, narrow and thin walled (eg fragile). I decided a while back that saving a few ounces was not worth the hassle of dealing with such a pot. IMUSA makes two aluminum mugs that are around the weight you mention. They don't have lids but you can make one from foil. They have a handle that is riveted in place. You can cut the handle off to save a few grams. They can sometimes develop minor water leaks around the lower rivet but seldom loose enough water to make any difference.

I personally have been pretty happy with my fosters pot. True, its flimsy compared to a titanium pot, but I've been using mine for over a year now without issue, and at $.05 a piece, its cheap to replace.

The Heineken pot would likely be stronger, but I've never been able to find the big keg cans in any of the local stores.

If you're like me, not broke but badly bent, finding cheap diy options is the difference between going camping or not, so the quality sacrificed by using a penny alcohol stove, for example, instead of a name brand is a small sacrifice to make

thanks all. I'll probably experiment with a couple of different approaches. and BTW I found this interesting YouTube video. The smalle (tomato paste can) does weigh less than 3 ounces.

I have used the IMUSA for a long time, but recently switched to a titanium bowl. The IMUSA is pretty stout, so if the weight is right... I bought mine at walmart for $2.

Suggestion: Tour your local resale shops (St. Vincents, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Value Village, etc.) and watch for old aluminum Boy Scout cook kits. I see them fairly often and for a couple of bucks. Take out the pot and lid (and maybe the plastic cup) and toss the rest. The pot holds around a litre or so and weighs very little. Plus, it's aluminum so spreads heat better than ti. Best, jcp

+1 I found a BSA pot and lid for 99 cents at Savers. BTW, if you do find a complete BSA cook set, do not thow anything away. It is a collectable, Sell it on Ebay, and use the monety to go back to the thrift store to get other goodies. BTW, the BSA pot holds 1 litre right to the brim. 800 ml would be a realistic practical limit.
