Looking for CP250 butane gas can adaptor - 06/21/11 03:38 PM

Hi All,

I was wondering if anybody knows where to get the adapter that converts a CP250 gas can to one that you could use on the threaded gas can stove system (jetboil, etc.)

Here's the best example

The problem is the piece is almost impossible to find. I heard that some high-quality brass models can be obtained from Japan.

Thanks!! smile

In the link you posted there was an adaptor mentioned. Here is a possible source:

There are all kinds of adaptors here. You can email the company and see if they can have or can fabricate what you need:

Here is one that might serve your needs?

None of these option is going to be cheap. You might end up just taking apart two stove with the fittings you want and putting together your own adaptor. It's fun but probably not cheap and please be careful.

I'm' with the folks on the other forum - why? the fuel won't burn as well as the canisters of iso pro you get to work with the Lindl valve stoves we see on shelves today. Unless you have a garage full of those canisters it seems like a lot of expense for not a lot of gain.

I would be more interested in getting one to go the other way around so that I could use the old stove and the lantern that I have with the current canisters.

Although, the adapter would be a good alternative if you cant find ISO-butane/propane mixes. I have a bunch of propane canisters (about 6-7 for stoves and lanterns). Yes, its heavy and a space-hog, but not for car camping or general picnics where there isn't any feasible public bbq sets.

I agree shotokun. I have what was once considered a lightweight lantern that was made obsolete by led headlamps for backpacking. I would like to use it car camping on the cheap propane bottles. I don't want to have to bring a second type of bottle, nor do I want to have buy those lightweight bottle for car camping.
