While it's seemed pretty gadgety, (and I really think sporks are stupid - I wish they made just a spoon like this) I suckered and actually like this thing. it folds short enough to fit in my pot, and yet the handle is loooooong for reaching into bags.
They do sell spoons and forks of that model. msr spoons and forks I was wondering how long they are, I wasn't able to find it anywhere. Was thinking about getting the gsi hydration spoon but if its as long I'd rather get something that folds.
They don't look to durable though. How are they in person?

Awww! they have a spoon! Darn, never seen that at MEC - I'll just live with my spork.
In person they are quite durable. It clicks in solidly when the handle folds, and it's thick enough (about like a good lexan spoon) so that it won't break easy unless you stomp on it, yet it's probably about as light as my old lexan one.
The handle is much longer than a regular spoon, I'll measure tonight for you, but it's definately long enough to dig all the way to the bottom of a regular meal bag and not get your paws oopy..
Barry I too use the long handled spoon and yes it is a bit of a pain to store but fits inside my Caldera Cone kit now. Sea to Summit have a Titanium folding spoon , not sure of the size. I had a look at it sometime ago but I need to go to town again to measure it, cannot find the size on the Web http://www.seatosummit.com.au/showdetail.php?Code=ACUTTFOLD (they also have the long spoon now, I had to get mine from BPL) Franco
that's easy to resist. it's big and heavy and has lots of stuff on it I'd just be taking for a ride on my back compared to my little bitty SAK classic knife.
Hey phat sorry to bring up an old thread but wanted to ask if you've found the this MSR spork to be durable? I haven't been able to see one in person no matter what gear store I go to. Oh and is it long enough for FBC?
Thanks.

No problem. I've found it to be decently durable, I'd worry about the hinge portion a little bit, I'd not go try to dig the marrow out of a mammoth longbone or stand on it or anything. I also "upgraded" mine to be a spoon instead of a spork once I found a spoon version. Both the spoon and spork are long enough for FBC, but fold to fit in my little pot (which is the attraction of them to me)
