Lotta snow!

I was in Sequoia National Park May 9-11 and there was a lot of snow left on the ground at the 7,000 foot level. It was melted off at Grant Village (about 6Kft.) but there were a lot of spots where things had barely started to grow. Judging from the raging rivers we saw (Kings and Kaweah), the melting is proceeding apace. I wouldn't want to be doing any stream crossings under those conditions! Like being tossed into a gigantic blender!

At that time the extraordinary California wildflower bloom was in the foothills, especially in the burned zone we passed through descending from Grant Village into Kings Canyon. Wow!
